Sunbeam Incandescent Lamp Company of Canada
Built in 1908 for the Sunbeam Incandescent Lamp Company of Canada, this industrial building later became the Canadian Head Office for the General Electric Company where they produced electric clocks, fuses and yes, light bulbs.

Now known as Light Factory, this brilliantly renovated turn of the century manufacturing facility stands testament to our city’s rich heritage – an exceptional example of early 20th century industrial design with features of Edwardian classicism.

We earned an Energy Star score of 81 making it in the top 20% of commercial buildings for energy efficiency. We have also successfully diverted 45% of waste from the landfill and achieved 22% water savings (400,000 gallons saved annually).

INTO THE LIGHT
This extraordinary exhibition explores Light Factory’s origins as a light bulb factory, with artists and designers investigating the malleable properties of light through reflection, refraction, capturing light with photography or depicting it with paint. the exhibition features more than 50 artworks by over a dozen artists with strong ties to Canada.
